Black and Blue Salad
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak
- Salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 6-8 cups mixed greens
- 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
- 1/2 cup blackberries
- 1/4 cup sliced almonds
- 1/4 cup red onion, sliced thinly
- 1/4 cup balsamic vinaigrette
Process
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Season the flank steak with salt and pepper to taste.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the steak and rub it in.
- Place the steak on the grill or grill pan and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness.
- Remove the steak from the grill or grill pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- Meanwhile, rinse the mixed greens in cold water and dry them with paper towels or a salad spinner.
- Place the mixed greens in a large salad bowl and sprinkle the crumbled blue cheese on top.
- Add the blackberries, sliced almonds, and red onion to the bowl.
- Drizzle the balsamic vinaigrette over the salad and toss gently to combine.
- Add the sliced steak to the top of the salad.
- Season with additional salt and pepper to taste.
